Winter on the Pocosin

Every winter is different here in eastern North Carolina. Mostly we have mild to cold temperatures throughout the season. Over the past couple of years we’ve had some really cold stretches that have made the waterfowl photography exceptional! The images below are from a back to back days photographing swan and snow geese on the Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. The morning wake calls are early and cold but they are so worth it when you get to create images like what you see below.
