On a spur of the moment trip to eastern North Carolina, Candace & I drove into a massive lightning storm. We started out at Swan Quarter, then to Mattamuskeet, to Engelhard and then finally back to Pungo. We had lightning and rain throughout the day and couldn't really do much photographing. On our way out of Pungo right at dark, this massive lightning storm was passing to the east of us. I grabbed my camera, tripod, cable release and set up. I set my camera to take a 10 second exposure, continuously and hoped for a little bit of luck. After only about 5 to 10 minutes I had my best lightning images to date! They were extremely impressive, cloud to ground, make you go speechless, and wonder why in the world I was outside trying to capture a photo, kind of lightning. I was lucky enough not to get struck and to come home with the following photos.
