Spring at Pocosin Lakes NWR

Here in eastern North Carolina, in 2016, we've actually had a spring. Normally we dive right into the heat and humidity of summer. I've made a couple trips out to the Pungo Unit and the songbird, bear and deer activity has increased dramatically since I was last there in February. The crops are a little late this year, on the refuge, compared to last year this time. So in the next couple of weeks I expect bear activity to grow even more! Can't wait to meet this years cubs. For now here are my favorite images from this past week, taken over two different days.
