2016 in Review
2016 has been a fantastic year for Neil Jernigan Photography. The year started out by me leading/teaching a few workshops at Lake Mattamuskeet and at Pocosin Lakes NWR. I photographed on the Outer Banks, subjects included, lighthouses, seascapes & waterfowl. We drove west in search of whitetails, elk, waterfalls and beautiful landscapes. I photographed all my usual subjects like bear, geese & frogs. I did however photograph a lot of new things this year like Southern Hognose snakes, Sandhill Crane and a Red Wolf at Pungo. This summer I photographed an intense lightning storm on the Pocosin Lakes NWR. Got my best lightning images to date.
2016 was also a great year for publications, I had three images published in Our State Magazine with a couple being published in Wildlife in North Carolina Magazine. One of my goals for 2016 was to refine my landscape photography skills and to honestly shoot more landscapes. Personally I believe I achieved that goal by creating some of my best landscape work.
Below you will find my favorite images of year. I couldn't just choose best 16 of '16, this year was far better than just 16 images. I hope everyone had a good year and I hope everyone has a great 2017! A new year has never been more exciting!
